This looks promising...my younger brother, who is a HUGE tim drake fan will eat this stuff up. I'm glad that they're having a show that seems to be geared to somewhat younger audiences...
EDIT: I'm a bit concerned that they might "write out" Return of the Joker...I think the events of the flashback sequence in ROTJ can be accounted for and still make this series great. Unless this team won't be a part of the existing BTAS/STAS/JL/BB continuity at all, which I wouldn't really mind. Still, in any case I'm psyched about this show.

Holy moley!!!
I didn't know this was a for sure thing. Oddly enough, I'm a little disappointed. Having a Teen Titians series kinda takes away from the originality of Justice League, and having a young Robin in the future will no doubt raise even more continuity fiascos. I could easily have done without this series, but I'm happy for Glen.

Yeah, the continuity stuff might pose a problem, which is why it appears that this might not even be in the current continuity at all. As long as its a good show, I'm willing to excuse continuity issues.

The style of the series looks really...off....from the current style used in Justice League. I think this will be an out of continuity series.

Glen Murakimi is behind it so we can expect a great look for the show! Robin's design looks great, and does remind me of the "Bruce Timm animated" style. The other characters reek too much of anime to me though...

Whoa! It'd been so long since there'd been any news on this, I thought it'd fallen into development limbo, but I guess not! I'm excited that WB greenlighted this, because it shows they're willing to invest a little more in their animated properties now. I'm also glad that Glen Murakami is doing this, it insures a little more quality control. While the new designs aren't like the ones we're used to, they look pretty cool. And as for continuity, since characters in comic books can go 60+ years without aging or showing change while the world around them ages, this shouldn't violate continuity too badly (I wonder if Bruce Timm is being consulted, officially or unofficially on this)

I wonder which Robin they will be using. If it's Dick, then we can definately say that this is not in continuity with Batman, Superman, etc.
I'm not sure of my thoughts on this series, however. The show may make me a fan of the Titans, but they've got an uphill battle. We'll see how it goes next season, I guess.
And Salvor, I agree. A bit too anime influenced.

I suppose I'll be the first really negative one. The character designs look like crap. Way too un-proportionate for my liking. Also, why the future? God, this show sounds like it's going to screw up comic origins and continuity as bad as J.J. Abram's Superman script. Please, at least take Robin out of the show. I can handle them messing up second-rate Titans, but not Robin, for crying out loud!
Okay, I'm done ranting. I usually don't come off that negative, but it's what I truly think. All I can say is, thank god we've got re-runs of Batman: The Animated Series.

Whoa it looks cool! I'm glad that Tim is in the original costume (But Steel boots!?!?!).
It's fine and dandy but what's with this whole Future ala Legion of Superheros thing?!?!?
I'm mean I'm sure that the Legion could've made their own series, So why Combine Teen Titans with that? by the way what does Bruce Timm know about this?
And I'm bit sad that some of originals didn't make it, like Wondergirl or Speedy but you can't have everthing and this roster seems fine.
Well beside all that, I'm just glad Teen Titans are finally here.

I agree with ya man..the designs are so...*cough* crappy. I'm sorry..but when I clicked on the article I was hyped, hoping to see Robin in his Static Shock appearance..and instead I see Anime Robin with a head that looks like Calvin (from Calvin and Hobbes).
Only plus? Robin has some green in him, but I still don't like the designs. Like others have said..waaay to anime-my..

I have some issues with a Teen Titans series, but I am really glad that it will be made. I would have prefered using Nightwing but in the comics, Robin was the leader of the Titans.
I'm not too sure about the animated style. Looks too anime. Continuity is also a problem. They might keep it in the same universe as Justice League--after all, they did team up Batman and Superman. Perhaps they are creating this for kids as more adults like JL. Or this could be seen by WB execs as a sort of spin-off of X-Men: Evolution. If the execs can keep from coming in and ruining everything as they usually do, the series has hopes of being something good.
I really hope the Teen Titans will make it.

I keep hitting refresh and hoping that picture will go away -- and it's still there and it bothers me just as much.
I read the article -- and somehow missed the pic, I swear I don't know how -- and I was cool with the possible "differences" from BTAS and JL in designs. This was not what I pictured when I read it.
I'm unhappy, to say the least. Very unhappy.

While I will hold off comment on the quality of the series until I sww, I have to say, I like the designs. I will say more about it once it airs but I will admit, I was apprehensive about how the B:TAS designs would work until I actually saw the series.
While I am somewhat disappointed that this series seems to be "out of continuity" with the other animated DC properties, continuity really doesn't matter in the long run. It appears this series is aimed at a younger audience than Justice League and setting up a new continuity is probably the best way to go since there won't be anything that the audience needs to know before the series begins. B:TAS continuity is 10 years old and is starting to develop its share of headaches (BB, Green Lantern, Legacy, etc.). Kids just want to watch a show with new characters and good stories. They don't complain when shows like Digimon and Power Rangers start out with a new continuity every year.
While I would prefer an in-continuity series that still doesn't take away my anticpation for this show.

i'm not familiar w/ teen titan comics.
does it take place in the future?
do they have a "boss"?
or is the group really going to be run by a 13-14 year old.
are they generally on earth or in space?

Cyborg is the only one with a design that bothers me. I think it's trying too hard too look future-y, with the oversized metal pieces and blue energy containers.
I think it's safe to say that this is a new Robin. It's in the future, so unless there's some kind of time travel involved, we're seeing someone new. I doubt they'll ever mention his real identity, myself.

Nope. It takes place in present time. Today in the comics, they aren't the Teen Titans anymore, just Titans. And if there is a boss, it'd be Robin and Raven. And to answer your last question, they do operate on the planet Earth. So basically, this show contradicts everything about the comics.

I hope so. I'm not too excited about this series, but at least it won't directly relate to
Justice League.
The only bad thing is that this means we won't get the "real" Teen Titans on
Justice League...or could we? If this takes place in the future, maybe they're influenced by Nightwing's team?
Oh, I give up. Just keep JL on the air and I'll be happy.

As much as I'm excited by a new animated DC show I've got a feeling that this could be very bad.
One of the things I loved that they did when they were creating new episodes of Batman and Superman was that both shows shared the same design style. I was really hoping that TT's would match JL visually, especially since the JL designs have really grown on me. But these are just fuggly. If thier aiming to get this show on the air by fall of 2003 those designs are basically set in stone now. Blarg.
I'm also scarred that KidsWB will be sharing the show, and thus will have a lot of input on it. Granted Glen Murakami will be at the helm of TT, which is a good thing.
Finally, why the hell are they setting it in the future?! Ok, it worked for Batman Beyond, but the only thing I want to see that's set in the future is more Batman Beyond. Hmm... I've got $10 that says that the future aspect was "suggested" by KidsWB.
At this point I'm guessing that the first episode will deal with the current Robin accidentally being zapped to the future where he'll discover that the "JL" of that time is missing and he'll form the TT to deal with the crisis.
